Oh Yeah, that's a Strip

"That's a strip" was a common saying among Clay and I whenever we would say or do something stupid. 

Trip over a lawn gnome? "That's a strip."
Stick our foot in our mouth? "That's a strip."
Embarrass ourselves in front of a crowd? "That's a strip."

We always joked that we were walking, talking cartoon characters. It was only fitting that we should use our lives as inspiration.

Meet the Geeks was always meant to be semi-autobiographical, incorporating fact with fiction in the tradition of the great Gonzo writers. If it's stupid or embarrassing I'm sure it will find it's way into the comic.

I've been eyeing the book Talk to Me: How to Ask Better Questions, Get Better Answers, and Interview Anyone Like a Pro by Dean Nelson for some time now. However every time I had a little money to spend there was always something else that needed to be picked up or had more value in my mind.   I was delighted then when I found out that the book was available as an audio book via Audible. Even better I had a monthly credit available and no other books in their repetoir were calling out to me. So with a click I am finally getting to, not read, but experience this book on my ride to and from work. It couldn't have come at a better time.  I've been looking for a podcast idea of my own that would allow me to try out my own journalistic skills. Some time ago my mother had asked me if there was a way to convert a shoebox of old VHS tapes of my dads old games and interviews to digital format.  We found and purchased a analog to digital converter from Amazon.ca and I recently got around to hooking it up to an old VHS player that we fortunately still had and our computer. I gots to play with Todd again

In 1978, I heard Kiss Alive II. I was nothing but a babe at the time, but the sonic bombast of the album forever changed my life. In 1982-1983, Todd was playing guitar, and blew my mind. From that point on I vowed to share a stage with him. While I was waiting for that dream to happen, I had hooked with Dan Saltel in a band we would call Salty Bear. It was this garage-y thing that I was quite proud of. But it was nothing quite approaching the technical ability of what Todd was doing with his band MiToMa. I mean, hell, they were playing Rush and Van Halen. Dan and I were getting better as musicians with a lot of hard work, but Todd was Todd. Todd was shredding. I was writing. Salty Bear was pure songwriting. What we were missing in musical ability we made up with in sheer integrity and experimentation.
